That's fantastic! thanks Jenny!

One Thing.. I spelt it wrong! It's Mary not May Barnell.

It looks like you have fabulous resources, i'm going to have to check my tree and see if i can find some more!

Packhams from Mayfield?

Just to Check, Is John Eldridge actually spelt Elderidge?

Hi Jen,

Could you try another marriage look up for me please?

Robert Barrett to Ann about 1830 in the Parish of Fairlight,

which I believe is the Rye/Icklesham/coastal type area (if that makes any sense!) Robert was born in the parish, but Ann was not. I believe their first child was born about 1831 in Icklesham/Iden and baptised in Rye.

Much appreciated, Karen

Hello Jen

Thanks for the kind offer.

This might be a bit of a long shot, but I have James Peters and Alice ?? baptising children from 1743 in the Dorking area of Surrey.
Cant find a marriage for them so wondered if they had married in one of the Sussex parishes bordering Surrey.

Would you be able to search your marriage disc for a marriage?

Many thanks

Jacqui

jen yorkshire Report 28 Sep 2008 13:20

hi smurf. sorry i always forget to put what abreviations mean...botp - both of this parish. lic - by licence. amazes me too how the names differ.i guess sometimes vicars etc spelt them as they sounded . i like the marriages when it has 2 entrys, some have archdeaconry of lewes ,etc. that usually gives quite a bit of info, sponsers etc and jobs.then the day after it has the marriage date they wed...let me know if you need more...jenny

Hi Jen

I am trying to find the marriage between William Backhurst and Harriett Boswell c 1840, in Eastbourne, I have found they had a son William 1940, but nothing on the official records hope you can help, do you have access to birth and death records as well.

Phyllis

Phyllis Report 28 Sep 2008 16:53

HiJen

Phyllis again went back to original offer and realise that yes you do have birth records, I realise it is a bit much but I now live in Spain so have to rely on records for tracing my family, records only go back as far as 1837 from what I can see, so any help you can give me on tracing William Backhurst of Eastbourne's grandparents etc would be brilliant, he was born 8/1/1840 to William Backhurst and Harriett Boswell, really appreciate the offer.
