Edward Riley b1841c son of Thomas Riley & Jane Fells

I have been sent some info about Edward he married
Harriet Bunting in 1865 she died 1872
Margaret Barker in 1869 (but Harriet didnt die until 1872)
Hannah Ebbs in 1880

On bmd Harriet died age 22 Leicester Q1 7A 137 1872 there is also a baby same name and GRO No (think this may be her daughter)

If this is Edwards wife how did he marry Margaret in 1869 ?

I havent sent for any certs yet as I have just started on this branch
but now I am totally confused

Can any one help ?

These two marriages are quite a way apart and it may not be the same Edward Riley.
I can't find an Edward with a Harriet or a Margaret in the 1871 census.

Thanks for your help I think there must be two Edward Rileys as I have him on the 1871 census he is married to Harriat living Babworth East Retford
I have him on the 81 & 91 with Hannah Ebbs and a son Albert Edward I know that's him as Albert was my husbands grandfather Its the marriage to Margaret I find confusing some one sent me this info about his 3 wives I think I will send for the marriage certs for Hannah & Harriet and hope it says his father was Thomas

I think that the confusion has arisen because there is a marraige in East Retford for Edward Riley in 1869 but there are only two names transcribed for the page - Edward Riley and Margaret Barker. I would guess that Edward married Harriet then - her age and the age of son erbert would point to that - and that Margaret married an unknown gentleman. I don't think that the marriage in Bakewell is connected and also the death in Leicester will be a different Harriet as there is a Harriet living in Leicester in 1871 (also married to an Edwrad Riley) of the right age.
I cannot find a death for 'your' Harriet which should take place in east Retford I would have thought.

It looks as if Herbert Mary and Margaret are the children of Harriet
and that John H E is Hannah's child.

Thomas Riley was married to Jane Seaman, she became Jane Fells later - 1859? Some of our distant cousins suggest the Rileys weren't married, or Thomas didn't exist.

I have 3 poss wife's Harriet Bunting Margaret Barker and Hannah Ebbs
I know Hannah is correct but not sure about the other 2

The above post from Andy says he thinks Margaret married an unknown gentleman but I have the marriage cert for a Margaret Barker and Edward Riley in 1869,

My problem now is did he make this name up as on

Mar to Hannah looks like John a hawker
Mar to Margaret Charles a traveller

Hope this all makes sense what I want to know is have I got the correct Edward Riley
