Have been talking to one of my Tully Cousins and he has been having the same problem finding this family. We both think he was probalby born in Lancashire and a mistake made on his death certificate when his children assumed he was born in the area they were. Can anyone find William with his parents in Lancashire?? |

Hi Again Sylvia, I have tried looking for a birth in Lancashire, but can't find him. Bought some credits and tried looking at a few 1851 census trying to match with Bdm's from 1847 to 1849, but had no luck and ran out of credits, could not find William with parents listed on Death Certf. On his marriage certf he is listed as a Fireman and his father Joseph as a Coalminer (then as we discussed a Botanist on William's death certf) Have begun to think he may have been born in Ireland or ??? If only his date of birth had been listed on Death Cetf, we might have found him by now. Also wonder if name Tully might be mispelt on birth and earlier census. guess anything is possible with this one. Thanks for you interest, I'll keep looking.(and pulling my hair out) |

Thanks Tracy, Have tried googling, and surname searches, closest I can get is maybe Irish but spelt Fovy of Foye. I am afraid I may not be able to solve this one. |

Still have not found out anything more on William with his parents. Beginning to think that despite it saying on his death certificate that he was born in Spinnamore (Spenny Moor??) England, that with the name of Tully, and with his mother's name being Favonius Fovye that maybe he was actually Irish or possibly Scottish??? I know Tully can be an Irish name, but any ideas on Fovye. |

I did not realise they had emirgrated no mention in any posting till now ,that is why i cannot find any of them on later census, maybe his father had previousley been abroad before he was born and thats why we cannot find him with his wife. |

Sylvia, thanks for the info on the botanist bit, seemed strange to me, but your explanation might be the answer there, as it was William's son that supplied the info on the death certf., and since he was an infant when they emigrated to Australia he probably never met his grandparents. Seems to be the problem that once they emigrated to Aus they never spoke about their families back in England. |
