Just seen the same problem on another board. Lisa can you just post on one board, as people may be duplicating work already done by someone else.

Sheila M Kausman, mmn Martin, Staines, 3a 67, 3Q 1940.

Well is seems he states he was 39 in 1949 which makes his DoB 1910. It's possible she was his first wife?

I have found a marriage for him for 1939, enough time to get over a 1937 divorce and meet someone new?

Hmm

There's a divorce in 1937 on the National Archives site for a Harry Kausman - wifes name was Phyllis. It's an unusual name - could this be him, previously married???

Harry G Kausman married Miss Martin 1Q 1939, Surrey N E, 2a 146.

Note the subtle change of name?

I'm having a look for children of the marriage now. I'm upto 1954 and have found nothing yet :(

Edit: Found no children upto 1956, going to look for the original marriage of Gordon and any children...

Hi its a bit of a long one so will try and summarise!

My name is Lisa, and im new to all this, ive tried for 3 mths but not much luck so wondering if anyone could help, or at least point me in some places to look? i would be very grateful!

My Dad was dropped at a hospital aged 3 days old, in 1947. With a note from his birth Mother Joan Welborn, who lived at 33 Bolsover Rd in Hucknall, Notts, i have her birth certificate now,- date of birth- 16 Feb 1921 and also her marriage certificate, when she married 2 yrs after giving birth to my dad. (married 23rd March 1949) -district Basford, Notts

The strange thing is, the guy she married was Gordon Harry Kausman (who was 39 at the time) and the name she left my Dad with on the note said Michael 'Gordon' Welborn...so im thinking maybe she was having an affair and he was named after him?

Gordon Kausman at the time of my dads birth was previously married to a Margaret Martin (maiden name) so its a possibility. And they had a child called Sheila i think??

Im now trying to establish the whereabouts of any siblings/half siblings to my Dad.

The Kausman trail has gone cold, and cant seem to find a death for either of them...are all deaths registered??

My poor Dad has tried so many times in the last 60 yrs, and has given up hope of ever finding out who his family was. So i thought id have one last bash....

would be really pleased if anyone had any bright ideas??

thanks in advance...

Lisa
