Thanks for checking Christine, it is looking more and more likely isn't it!?
Pauline, thanks for your input..so i wasn't totally barking up the wrong tree then with my names?!!!
It is possible if one Woolfe changed to William then another may have thought the same!
Have ordered Hymans birth cert. hopefully the d.o.b will be the same! fingers crossed!!!
If anyone else has any other ideas, be glad to hear!
If any one is free at all can someone please double check that i haven't missed a marriage for Maurice Arthur/Abraham Kausman.
I can't find one anywhere!
Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the delay, lost my internet connection.
There are none registered in the other qtrs and as it is such an unusual name it does seem possible that these 2 are them as both birth dates are near the end of the earlier qtr but a bit strange that both names middle names have been changed.

Hi Tracey!
Thanks for your help again..yes i see what you mean...
In your experience does it seem odd that there is no birth registration for either brothers???
Would you say that it was common practice for whole families to change names??
His death certificate had his brother as informant, wouldn't he have know his bro's bday?
This is so frustrating!!
Are there any other places i can look?

Hi Lisa,
Maurice with DOB in June could have been registered in the Jul/Aug/Sept qtr and the same for Harry with DOB in March that could also have been in Apr/May/Jun qtr.
Maybe there were different people, I'll take a look at the full indexes for those qtrs and get back to you.

It does seem odd that there doesn't seem to be any birth records for either of mine...?
Is there any other means of checking if there are any?
Have tried here, Ancestry.com, and Findmypast.
The odd thing is although the birth months are different the years are the same???
Another possible co-incidence i found a marriage for Woolfe Kausman that could have been his father....my Harrys father was named as William on Harrys marriage cert....they both begin with W!!!
Am i clutching at straws??!!! Could they have all changed their names??!!

Lisa
Dates of birth are only good for information assuming the person giving the information knew for certain the data.
Death certs are well known for having the wrong birthdates on...
As for birthplaces, assuming someone was living in Hammersmith and had their child in Fulham, the child will be registered as being born in Fulham regardless of where the family were living....
This is why these certs can sometimes create as many mysteries as they solve!!

Hi Christine, thanks for looking at this... i also have spotted these people but the birth dates are wrong...it did seem odd that the same family had a Maurice and Harry with surname Kausman, only reason i have to doubt it is that there are phone records of another MA Kausman in Leics area at same time my M Arthur is in Huntingdon!
But i guess its possible that they both changed their names but is it possible they changed their d.o.b's on records?
Also this Harrys birthplace was Lambeth, and mine is Shepherds Bush...
I do know that my Harrys dad was down as William (Deceased) on his marriage cert...spose i could order this Hyman guys birth cert? Maybe i will try that!!
Appreciate you taking the time to look Christine! Thanks a lot!

Hello!!
Update!
The informant on My Grandmother's death certificate, a lovely man called Colin, who had been best friends with them for 30 yrs, has sent me a photo of Joan Welbourn on her Wedding day to Gordon Kausman... The resemblance to my father is very strong!!!
Have been staring at it for days!
I am visiting him in 2wks where he said he has a few more photosand bits and bobs for me...this really is a dream come true..never thought id crack it!! thanks to you guys!!
Anyhow, am trying to locate any living Kausmans and have discovered Harry Gordon Kausman informant on his death cert. was his brother in Huntingdon called Maurice Arthur Kausman.
I am trying to find the GRO refs so i can order their birth certificates but no luck? wondered if anyone else fancied having a bash for me?
Harry Gordon Kausman's death cert states: d.o.b 23 mar 1910, Shepherds Bush, W12 (death 04 Aug 1970)
Maurice Arthur Kausman details on death index state d.o.b 17 jun 1904 (death jun 1995 Huntingdon dist, reg no F11B ent. 133
Thankyou,
Lisa

Lisa, I have just read your latest as I have been off the site for a few days. I think it is great that your Dad will at last get some closure. If I was able to help in some small way I am really happy to have done so. I know that there were several times that I had tears in my eyes when I read your Dads story and the sad end to the search but peeps like you are what this site is all about. Good luck for the future and give your Dad a hug from all of us. Angela

Hi lisa.
Glad that your father will have some pictures of his mother and some information about her life. I hope this brings him some joy. Its just a shame that this could not have been solved just a few years earlier.
I,m sure the other people that helped will be glad to hear of your success on behalf of your father.
I was glad to help and wish your father well.
richard.

oh well...
Its been a while, but wanted to express my utmost grattitude to a few people....
Richard Wayne/Tracey Ann Angela Sylvia in Canada and Janice
Thanks to you guys and your help and expertise, i unfortunately discovered the death of my Grandmother only 2 yrs ago. I have however received her death certificate and the informant was a guy who had been friends with her for over 45 yrs.
I have conversed by letter and he has now given me much needed information and my Dad knows all about his Mum. He is sending me some photos of her this week, and i can't thank you all enough for making it happen.
You are all incredible, you have changed lives, in particular my Dads,
thank you all
