just an after thought dea on the birth cert for eliza may its given as be registered by her mother mary may & they were living at randalls court woodhouse cum wortley so that would fit in with what you found on the 1851 census omg i can feel somemore headache pills cominmg on lol |

Hi, Thanks for pointing that out. I still can't find William May the cloth dresser though. There's a George May b. 1825 - cloth dresser - on the 1841 census, with a brother William b. 1821 - who isn't a cloth dresser - that's the best I can do. |

Hello Dea, I've come in late on this one, after everyone's done all the work. But, with nothing positive to add, can I just point out that William May married his Mary Barrett in 1849, therefore, her name would be May and not Barrett on the 1851 census. |

I admit Margaret - it is a little different to the other 'U's for unmarried but if you look at everything else on the page - the 'u's all have a 'curly bit' at the top and all the M's and N's are very straight and angular |

On the 1851 census that Dea found. Joseph ( Barrett on image ) and Mary May Barrett are married. both son in law and dau in law. Joseph is a Stone mason |
