Find Ancestors

Can anyone help me find a marriage for Isaac Sargent, I know he married someone called Mary, but can't find the marriage to trace her maiden name.. they had thier first child in 1861/2 so the marriage should be just before that, but i have looked and can find no marriage in Birmingham, i assume as they were both born in birmingham and so were the children, that they would have married there. Any help would be gratefully appreciated, many thanks

Could it be this one, i've got Sarjants an my tree and at's spelt so many different ways.

Thanks Mike it could well be that one, it seems to fit more with the date.. I am having so many problems finding them as the name as you say is spelt so many different ways in different documents/census's


W/T no havent found her actual birth yet, am looking for it now to see if maybe she was born else where, but my family do mainly originate in birmingham,

Hi lindsey, thanks for that, she was definately a harriet tho.. i am having problems finding the family on census's as the spelling of the name varies so much from sargent to sergent/sergeant/sarjant and all sorts, so its very time consuming obviously trying to find all these records under the various spellings but i did find harriet, isaac, edward, amy, clara herbert on a census with their parents isaac and mary, anything else is a mystery!

We need to find Mary Ann Smith on the census and see if her data matches that of the Mary Ann with Isaac.

The Alice i found is an additional child..... not a Harriet alternative. The chances are Alice has died if she is not on the 1871 census.

Trouble is they couldnt read or write so they were dependant on other people spelling.

Thanks Wayne/tracey but i am not sure about this droitwich birth/marriage... i could be wrong but the dates dont fit with other info i have , altho there is a big gap between isaac and harriets birth, but i cant find half the census records to confirm this information for sure, i only have family info to go on

This looks like the George Chambers who is lodging with them on 1871 census Mary Ann Sargent is down as neice. Also there is a James Sargent, nephew also married ??to Mary Ann. Seems a bit of a coincidence, the plot thickens
