I have been unsuccessfully trying to trace my fathers family tree for him. Please help i really dont know which way to go and need expert advice. I am trying to trace the birth of his father William Reynolds in the midlands on 29th Nov 1902. I have search Dudley and Stourbridge areas but have all come back without success. On Williams marriage cert it states his father was Frederick, a puddler . .deceased. His mother was Gladys? We know gladys remarried and had three further childen all named Hall.. William had a brother George, and sisters Gladys and Daisy. My father has told me that they used to visit an aunt(possible Daisy) in Birmingham and that his father worked for a while in Wolverhampton, because i dont know where anyone came from i am finding this impossible. Anyone know a way forward? many thanks. Alison. |

Does it not give Gladys' maiden name on the marriage certificate? |

The Hall children we think were from Birmingham SarahEizabeth(sally) married a Charles Evans, Francis married a Frank Cullis and mary married a Ron Builder. I am not sure Gladys was really a Gladys only going on her son williams marriage cert. They might never have married which could be a possibillity William was married on xmas day 1924 to phoebe maria cooper at st johns church brierley hill west mids. Ali |

Was Gladys a witness to the marriage? Is that why she is mentioned on the cert? |

I am sorry i cant help you exactly but my father thinks that daisy was the oldest( he is 80 ) but we dont know any dates. I do know that daisy married an ernie bloomer and george married a florence painter and gladys married a frederick turner. these must have been 1915-1920s. My father thinks there may be connection with Edgbaston birmingham. thanks ali |

hi. Lets recap. My father is John william sidney reynolds born may 1928. His father was william sidney reynolds born 1902 his father was we believe Frederick and mother Gladys? It was William Sidney that had sisters gladys and daisy and a brother george they must have all been born around the turn of the century because Mother Gladys went on to have a further 3 children after Fredrick died. Sorry this is confusing.. hope i have cleared up the mix up. many thanks ali |
