I have a conundrum! My grandfather (Henry Charles George Smith - born 31/12/1904 in Tonbridge) has a birth certficate naming the mother as Annie (nee Musgrave) and not naming the father. I believe the Husband was a Henry Charles Smith, but cannot find any records of an Annie Musgrave marrying a Henry Smith, or any census record for 1901 or 1911 that give any clues to how I proceed from here? Any help or thoughts gratefuly received. |

If she didn't name a father then she must not have been married to him. |

On the birth ceertificate Annie is names as the mother as Mrs Smith, nee Musgrave. Whilst I realise this may well mena that Mr Smith is not necessarily the fatehr, she was married to him and I can't find the marriage register. Nor can I find any Annie smith with son Henry in the 1911 census. |

I don't have a sub, but this entry appears to have an Ann and Henry attached to it |

That looks positive Andy, what is the search on teh 1911 census you used as I can't get that result? |

Andrew does the 1911 entry say if Annie is Married, or widowed ? |

thank Cathereine and Barbara - I have already discounted these two entries. The first says born portsmouth and the second has a mother in law by name of Farr rather than Musgrave? |

The problem Catherine is I haven't got anything - hence my block. All I have to go on is the original birth certificate of my grandfather (which I have) and have been unable to get anywhere else as my Mother doesn't recollect anything, although she doesn't recall any uncles or aunts on that side, and my grandfather died in 1969. |

Dee, no occpation unfortunately. The witnesses appear to be all from the stark side of the marriage. |
