I am trying to find any links especially living relatives to Patricia Rhoda Nina Seymour born c1938. She married Rowland Dennis Rogers in 1959. Her parents are Albert David Seymour and Jessie Millicent Nina Holden. Any help will be much appreciated

Hi Karen, try putting her name into the search trees box above to see if anyone else on this site has her in their tree. If you find a connection, you can contact the tree owner. Regards. Cx

And her birth wasn't registered under the surname SEYMOUR

I found the marriage...............I was hoping Karen would come back to her thread and give ALL the info needed.

I don't know any more information I'm afraid - she is my husband's mother who he hasn't seen since he was about 6, which is why I'm trying to find living relatives. He had 2 younger brothers Paul and Christopher but as they are both popular names there are lots of them. I have contacted lots of people through the "search trees" box but not everyone replied.

The 'info' you must have known and didn't give was the COUNTRY in which this woman was born etc

Her birth is NOT registered in England/Wales.

The ONLY Seymour/Holden birth on freebmd is for a male in 1925

The marriage of her parents is not on freebmd

Where did you get their full names? You seem uncertain about when Patricia was born.......................

PM sent with possible births for Paul & Christopher

I'm sorry but I don't know what country she was born in as my husband was only 6 last time he saw his mother. I have Patricia's marriage cert which states her father's name is Albert David Seymour and she was 21 years old when she married in 1959. Albert David Seymour married Jessie Millicent Nina Holden in 1920 in Hendon. One of Jessie's middle names is Nina and her sister's name is Rhoda so it seems quite probable she IS patricia's mother.

Found your husband and his brothers births but can't find a trace of a birth for Patricia. She could, of course have been born outside of England. What was her Father's occupation on the marriage certificate. Was it something that required travelling?

I'll have to check her father's occupation when I get home as I'm at work right now. I wondered about her being born abroad too (as I was even though my parents are English and I was brought up here). The male you found born in 1925 was born in Hendon and died in Southampton - his name was David Keith Seymour. One of jessie's brother's daughters knew him (I'm not sure when) but I'm waiting to hear back.

I have searched FMP for births abroad and reg with the British GRO,but she is not on them.

I am wondering if she was adopted. If Albert and Jessie only had one child David, and for some reason Jessie couldn't have any more and they decided to adopt a daughter. Might be another road to research.

CakeyKaren Report 2 Oct 2010 12:35

That had crossed my mind too - any clues how to start researching adoptions?

Flick

Flick Report 2 Oct 2010 12:35

Are you guessing about who Patricia's mother was...........purely on the fact that she named her father as Albert David, and a man of that name married a woman whose names you give..............or do you have some other back-up info?

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 2 Oct 2010 12:46

Only the adoptee can access their adoption records,no one else.
If you think she was adopted maybe and have no info to go on there is about zero chance of finding anything at all.
You would need to have her birth name to even be able to send for her birth cert if you could find her refs to do so.

CakeyKaren

CakeyKaren Report 2 Oct 2010 12:48

Well I have no proof who her mother was but I can't find birth records for her name with or without mothers maiden name and her 2 middle names tie in with Jessie Holden and her sister. Also I couldn't find another birth record for an Albert David Seymour. Finding a living relative of David Keith Seymour would be a big help!

Astra

Astra Report 2 Oct 2010 12:48

It depends whether or not it was a registered adoption. I think if it was her birth would have been registered again under her new name. There is no evidence of that but there are people on here who are far more knowledgeable about the adoption system than I am.
If it wasn't a registered adoption she could have been the child of a relative (possibly unmarried) who was given to them to raise. But I think we need to cover every other avenue before we start going into that area.
