OK - I'm looking for the date, place of death (and if possible) burial site of my grandfather Thomas Stuart Robinson who was born in Manchester in 1878 (he worked as a house painter and bottle dealer and possibly at some later stage as a newsagent.) His wife was Bridget McCaffrey they married in 1912 in Prestwich, Manchester and had 2 children Thomas Michael (1918) and Frances (1917). His parents were James (c.1848) and his wife Ellen Maud Peacock (b. 1853)
Any help or info that anyone can give would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

Do you know Bridget's birth and/or death dates (so we can see if she moved from Manchester?)
Thanks

Thanks for the replies but I think it is unlikely that any of them are my grandfather unless you can give me a definitive reason why they might be! My understanding is that he died after April 1945. I really do need to know his date and location of death and if possible his burial location.
ANY HELP/INFO WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.
I know nothing about Bridget, I am waiting for their marriage certificate to arrive and then I may have more questions.

Thanks for your help everybody BUT I'm still looking.
The Thomas Stuart who died in 1940 is not my grandfather - I have been led to believe that he died at some point after April 1945. Also I checked the Manchester burial records and this one is buried in a CoE plot when my grandfather was RC. Also he was buried with (presumably) other family members whose names have no relationship to any on my tree.
So, any help or pointers you can give will be appreciated.
And BTW I know nothing about Bridget - I'm waiting for a copy of their marriage certificate to start chasing the McCaffrey line.
Thanks again.

Thanks. Yes, I'd seen this before and it opened up another load of questions that as yet I can't answer!

As far as I know Bridget died in the mid to late 1960s and from memory (from what little I was told by my parents) Bridget and Thomas were not buried together.
Thanks for the info though.

Not that it really helps, but it is quite possible for an RC to be buried in a C of E churchyard. Good luck with your search. Cx

Thanks but Bridget (I believe) died in the mid to late 1960s. Again, nobody knows exactly when or where or where she is buried. This is the problem I think of having no living relatives that I can ask.
Any pointers to help me tie down the date and place of death for both Thomas Stuart and Bridget would be appreciated.

To the best of my knowledge, Bridget died in the mid to late 60s.
Any help on tracing Thomas Stuart's year of death, place of death and site of burial would be greatly appreciated.

I'm still waiting for the marriage certificate.
It is possible (in fact pretty probable) that this is the death of Bridget but I won't be able to say for definite until I have the marriage certificate:

Name: Bridget Robinson
Birth Date: 10 Jan 1886
Death Registration Month/Year: 1970
Registration district: Manchester
Inferred County: Lancashire
Volume: 10e

Thanks.

Hi Cynthia,
Yes I know that but believe me I think it is very, very unlikely that would have happened.
But thanks any way.

Thomas definitely died in England as did Bridget. I'm pretty sure that they are both buried in the UK.

Michael, you may think it is unlikely for the buriel to have taken place in an Anglican churchyard but it is very, very possible.

Where I live, many RC folk lay alongside their C of E friends in perfect harmony. The local RC church does not have a churchyard whilst the Anglican one does and RC burials are in that churchyard are quite commonplace.

Another thing.....how do you know they were buried? They may well have been cremated. Have you checked crematorium records? They're relatively easy to google. Cx
