That's a great find Aileen! I wonder if the Alex McEwan boarding with the Mckiineys was Margaret / Mary Ann's stepson from her first marriage then? |

To find the Margaret / MAry Ann's parents you need to look on Scotlandspeople for her marriage to John. He was Scottish and the children were born in Scotland so the marriage most likely took place in Scotland. Elizabeth's birth certificate (again from Scotlandspeople) will tell you the date and place of her parents marriage. |

This may be the George that was married in Airdrie. But as has been said previously you need to go to http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.co.uk and get John's birth certificate to find the date and place of his parents' marriage. (Assuming you don't already have his birth certificate or you would already know the marriage details) Credits are £6 for 30 - 1 credit to view search results and 5 to view certificate. This can be done online. When you get the certificate post the details by clicking the purple reply button and entering the details in the dropped down text box, then click the submit button. If you do this then it may be possible to identify George and Elizabeth with their families on earlier census records. |
