Hi Christina, A big thank you again, it looks as if Hilda must have been married under a different name and that her mother also named Hilda must have had her to another male, its so amazing what you can find out, I am unsure as to where anyone in the rest of the family on my Mothers side got married as they used to move around quite a bit, All I can remember is they resided in Tynemouth, North Shields, Whitley Bay, Barking in Essex, and various households in London. I can not thank you enough for all your hard work, Av

Hi Christina, I was wondering if my grandfather Joseph Brooks was not married to Hilda Capewell when they had a son also called Joseph and a daughter also named Hilda as my mother Winifred was born in 1935 and she was not the eldest child and the information of their wedding was in 1933 as you found for me Marriage for Winifred's parents....
Marriage registered in Jul/Aug/Sep 1933 Names: BROOKS Joseph W. & CAPEWELL Hilda District: Mansfield Vol: 7b Page: 334 as I stated in earlier posts I was not told much as a child whether this was due to me being adopted I am not sure, Thanks for everything else you have found out for me so far Av

Hi Christina, Wow I am so amazed at what you have found in a few hours I have only been doing it for 4 months and had found nothing, with the dates they sound correct, I only had rough estimates of dates that I had tried to remember from being a child and I am pretty sure that all the dates tally. A really big thank you for all the details you have found for me so far, you are a star. Thank you. Av

These are only a guess until you confirm them with details from Ernest & Winifred's birth certificates.
Marriage for Winifred's parents....
Marriage registered in Jul/Aug/Sep 1933 Names: BROOKS Joseph W. & CAPEWELL Hilda District: Mansfield Vol: 7b Page: 334
Possible marriage for Edward's parents.....
Marriage registered in Oct/Nov/Dec 1930 Names: LINNEY George S. & YOUNG Catherine J. District: South Shields Vol: 10a Page: 1522
As Paula & Heather have already advised, order the certificates for your parents first of all. They will give you their parents names.

Hi Avril
If you order the certificates for your parents you can then work backwards and see what other info you can find out about your family.
There are a lot of people on here only to willing to help, which I have found out myself in the past.
Good Luck
Regards Paula

You're welcome. You made them easy to find by providing the years.
Shame about the 14 day free trial, they must know that not everyone wants to have a credit card. I wonder if you can register by switch/delta?
But anyway, members on here are more than willing to do look ups...so don't be afraid to ask.

Do you know when Winifred & Ernest's eldest child was born?
That will help to give an approx year for their marriage.
p.s. I've re-written their birth ref. details to make it easier to understand.

Avril
If you go to
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
then click on order certificates
then you will see the information they ask for relates to the numbers that people have given you on the birth references, certificates cost £7 and should (not always) reach you in 7-10 days.

The complete BMD indexes 1837-2005 are available on Ancestry.co.uk.
Subsciption charges vary between £60-£80 per year, but are well worth the cost for the amount of information and records available.(Census,BMD,WW1 Army Records etc.)
You can have a free 14 day trial, before you subscribe.
