Find Ancestors

Born 22nd May 1922 at Aylestone House, Lower Wilton Road, Malvern, Worcs. England.

The parents are named on the certificate as William Henry Patrick and Dorothy Patrick (fromerly Preece).

My Dad registered his Mother's death in 1962. She is named as Mary Jane Usher (Widow of William Henry Usher). I have the certificates for both registrations.

I have googled Aylestone House with no success and Ancestry is a struggle.

Believe me... if Dad was still here I would ask him myself!!!

Anyone with any ideas??

can't find any marriage -
maybe they weren't married - my grandfathers cert looks as though his parents were married - but the weren't!

The father would allow his name on the cert if he acknowledged the child and usually that meant financial support -
If he died then Dorothy may well have run into difficulties

Just my thoughts!

That would make sense then. If it is the William Henry that you found, and he died when my dad was three, then maybe Dorothy gave Dad up for adoption.

The puzzling thing is that the parents named on Dad's birth certificate both have the surname of Patrick!!!

I have found Lower Wilton Road in Malvern, Worcs. on Google Maps but can't find Aylestone House itself anywhere on Google. My wife thinks it may have been a place where people worked in service.

Is possible that after William Patrick died, Dorothy married William Usher & your dad took the name Usher. If Dorothy herself then died, maybe William married Mary.

Hi Paul,

In 1901 Aylestone House was occupied by a William Barnett ( on the census it is transcribed Barriett), his wife and son.

If you type in RG13; Piece: 2784; Folio: 93; Page: 47.at the bottom of 1901 census page it will take you to Aylestone House.

Another possibility would maybe look at the Electoral Rolls for 1922 , these are usually at the local library.
