Checked 1911 census and Alice in 1901 is the same Alice as the one in 1911 census as she is living with mother Annie L. and brother Frank, but father Edmund is not there. |

I think the only way round it is to buy the wedding cert for James & Alice to be ale to conferm the info as the more you look the more James you find |

To be sure you have the correct people you really need to buy a copy of their marriage cert. from Lancashire Registry Office. This will confirm their dates of birth and will give their father's names and professions. It will also give you James' profession and the address that he was living at, which may help. |

Just to finish off, for now, have checked 1901 census for James and age is definitely 9yrs and not 19yrs. So date of birth does fit. |
