Trying to find Alice Mary who married Joseph Clapson born 1862 who died on HMS invincible in 1916. I am trying to find out whether Alice married again and when she died. She lived in Chichester and was a regular church goer; but the church records cannot help me. My mother now aged 90 lived with her Granny Clapson as a child and would like to know whether she re-married and when she died and where. Trudi |

Yes, this is the family.Mum lived with Granny Clapson in the 1920's but unfortunately cannot remember the last time she saw her. She has always referred to her as Clapson though and we know she remained in Chichester for a long time after my Mum grew up. Mum seems to think she was buried in a church in Chichester but I have been in contact and even visited there a month ago- but with no success. |

Thank you- the challenge here is that the 1894 one is the daughter Alice Marie. The one I am searching for is Alice Mary; Mother which does make it difficult. I too have found anomalies with Alice Mary's birth date one being 1857 and one 1861. However, this is the correct family. Thank you for your help. |

The point is, cert for daughter Alice Marie will give you the mother's maiden name. |

Give me a minute Trudi and I will go to Scotlandspeople and get up the birth of one of the children that were born there and can then tell you her maiden name and when and where she married . |

apologies, I did add a post but it has not appeared. I am very new to all this. Mum last lived with Granny Clapson in the 1920's but cannot remember the last time she saw her. She cannot recall a man living with Granny Clapson- but as Mum is now 90- this may have slipped from her memory. |
