The amount you pay for your sub has no bearing whatsoever on the printing of your tree, regardless of its size..

Better by far to have your tree offline.........and print from there.

Although, no matter what software you use, you aren't going to be able to print a tree of 400 names in one go....................

so far as I know, one has not been able to print a tree for several years .................

As regarding getting a company to do the printing ............... ever since I joined in 2004, members have been advising other members to use Genealogy Printers.

............ and they do a much better job than the company recommended by GR :-)

As to contacting GR .......... they are now owned by BrightSolid.

The offices of both FindMyPast and GR are in the same building in London, even though BS's Head Office is in Scotland.

All I can suggest is that you GOOGLE the company name.

However, as they keep saying they are "working on the problem", I doubt you have a leg to stand on!

That phrasing indicates to anyone that they are seemingly trying to improve the situation ............... whether they are succeeding is up for debate :-)

In point of fact ...........

...... I do not believe that you do pay GR to print your tree.

One does not have to pay GR to start, build, or maintain a tree ......... the subscription covers the cost of accessing the records, for posting on the Community Boards, and for the ability to message other members.

Free members can maintain a tree, respond to messages sent to them by paying members, and, or so I believe, print off their trees (when that facility is working).

As IGP says above, you might indeed be able to print off your own tree .................... export your tree as a Gedcom to your Hard Drive, and then print off from there.

They are having a laugh, we all signed up to G R because you could print your tree either from Descendants or Ancestors or your Full tree (mine is 260 people) We have paid for for the right to print. So I think they are breaking the trade description act by not providing a service which is fit for purpose. Has any one got a telephone number or an address we could all contact their directors on. The latest email, they say they have found a way round this and give an address where you can get your tree printed for £9.95. :WE PAY FOR G R TO PRINT OUR TREES, SO THEY SHOULD PAY.

There have been problems for some time for some time and if you look at the Help Pages you will see that GR are well aware there are issues.

" We know that some members are having problems printing their trees at the moment, and we're really sorry about this. We're still making a number of improvements to the tree, including the printing function.

If you’re having problems, as a temporary solution, try exporting your tree from the site as a Gedcom file. Then you can print it offline using a family tree software package such as Family Tree Maker or Personal Ancestral File."

The site mentioned above will print you professional quality copy, for a fee of course, and is great if you want something to give as a special present or for family reunions.

From my own perspective, I print from my Tree program on my PC. Depending on the audience it is intended for I tend to use either a Descendant or Pedigree chart to show the basic structure and relationship structure and a Descendant or Ahnentefal Report to fill in details.

I use FTM but there are many other alternatives you might try.

I can not print my family tree which cosists of about 400 names
am I the only one who can not perform this simple task

there are some good point about the new G.R. site, but not being able to print the tree like we could do on the old site seems a step backwards.

after some months of not completing this task and two emails to G/R we still get the same message, your tree is to big to print, what a load nonsence for a platinum subcription which will not be renewed nexr time its due :-|
