Is there any news about when the new tree software (allowing multiple trees) will be available?

I'm afraid you're banging your head against a brick wall hoping for the reinstatement of the old tree
GR have decided what they think we need, not what their subscription paying members want
I think that a good majority of members would like the return of the of the old tree instead of the latest effort with it's gimmicky "enhancements" which often don't function properly
There was also a decent tree printing facility with the old tree but that is now non-existent
GR were working on another new tree a while back, but that seems to have died a death

I would like to print the tree list. when I try I just get the list visible on the screen

Fix the broken "Copy/Paste" function - surely this must be a priority!

What is the point of being able to view your "Hot Matches" if you can't easily transfer any of that information into your own tree? Even worse that you leave the "Copy" function active without any mention of the fact that there is no working "Paste" function so whatever you copy is just a complete waste of time anyway!

That such a basic and necessary function can just be left broken for what appears to be years from what I've read on the message boards says very little for the professionalism or care of your company and seriously questions the wisdom of having just paid you a subscription. I'm inclined to ask for a refund and use a different service instead!

One possible reason for the function not being "fixed" is that many members do NOT want others to be able to just copy Hot Matches willy nilly

I will not open my tree to anyone ................

If someone explains to my satisfaction why they could be connected, I MIGHT send them the information relating to their relative.


How do you know that Hot Match is really "yours"?

Far far better to make a note of the name, research it yourself and then enter it in your tree.

This board used to be used for suggesting improvements to the site but is not read by many members nowadays.

The picture format should be JPG.

When searching correspondence could we have an additional box for membership number? If we have a lot of contacts with the same name it is difficult and time consuming trying to identify that you have found the right person's file eg. there may be a lot of David Joneses or Mary Robertses in your correspondence files - it would help enormously.

GR no longer looks on this Board. They said a couple of years ago that they were no longer going to do so.

GR also seem to no longer be doing much upkeep on the site

Meanwhile ............ do you know that if you hover your mouse pointer over a member's name, their membership number will show somewhere on your monitor. It shows on my screen for example down in the bottom left corner?

Yes, it's a neat trick ........... helps identify whether this "Robert" is the same as the "Robert" who posted yesterday. OR to identify the person you no longer wish to help ;-)

yep ......... I've had a few of the latter over the years! I'm not helping only to be abused for whatever reason.

Apologies if it is already there, but could there be a photo pool for trees?

For example, i have several family photos that we are not sure of who they are, but we know they are family members. someone researching the same tree may know who they are.

You could create a file/folder for trees to add photos of unknowns, for other researchers to have a look at an possibly identify them.

Sorry, your posting on here will provide no help ...............

GR staff no longer keep an eye on this Board (and many of us wish they would get rid of it!). There are a few members like myself who do look out for new posts.


Please re-post your query on the Genealogy Chat Board, and I am sure that someone will have an idea for you.

My first thought is the KeepSafe, but I don't use it and I'm not sure that it would do what you want it to do.

Hi would love the option to add a bit of colour, is it possible to add a theme button and choose a better back ground colour instead of the plain white, it is so boring, thanks for letting us all have a say in what we all want.

However, you should also be aware that very little is being done for GR these days.

It is the Lifeline that is the most interesting thing to me. I almost joined Family Historian this morning and I may be mistaken, but I don't see any obvious Timeline or Lifeline on their site.

It's just that I like to see the way someone's life unfolded on the Lifeline You get a Lifeline on Genes Reunited, while on Ancestry it's a Timeline On GR, I date a photo and put it on the Lifeline and this gives me an opportunity to type something interesting below.

I wish GR would check their records as they have be married to the wrong person. It is only a simple mistake in the surname. I have pointed it out before but just get brushed off with poor excuses. :-(
