when searching for surnames it would be a good idea to be able to enter the first 3 letters and then a * symbol so that you can find unusual spellings.You can do this on Ancestry and I strongly recommend that you do this as well..Ivor |

As I understand it, if you search trees, it returns results with the surname starting with the string you specify. If you search records you have the choice of exact matches, starting with, or similar spelling. |
