Navigating family trees

I find it sometimes difficult to locate names in other people's family tree.Either I do not know how the search function operates or it does not work.When I put the name into the search field I expect the system to take me to that name but it does not. |

This morning I received a contact message from another GR member. Access given to her tree........ clicked View...... ages to download her tree (View from a contact message always gives the NEW VERSION)......... then had to mess about to get any names............ searched for the names she gave me........ got a message saying they were not on the tree. Because she has living relatives hidden, and didn't give me any years of birth, I assumed they were born within the limit, so replied to her, saying I couldn't see them. |

I don't usually check this board for newbies but, as this thread is over two weeks old, and the OP is obviously new to both GR and the boards, I have sent my usual guidelines on how to return to the thread. |
