At least they have acknowledged that more than one member is having the problem - a small step in the right direction.
Wonder how they work out what gets given priority ?
Love the spelling mistake - udnerstand
This problem is surely going to affect more members over time as they post more replies
Not holding my breath on this being looked at sooner rather than later :-|

Today's response to that email I sent on Friday (posted on the previous page):-
"we are really sorry for all the problems you have been having. All of the details ahve been passed on to Phil and the tehnical team. You are not the only one experiencing these error messages. Phil will take a look at this when time allows. As I am sure you udnerstand our technical team are very busy. They are quite a small team and work on problems in order of priority.
I am very sorry for the inconvenience."
-------------------------
I replied as follows:-
"I do understand that the development team is very busy. But it is also very frustrating when all these problems are not being sorted, and corrected.
It does, however, seem to me that having a correctly operating system, with problems experienced by members being corrected, would be of higher priority than is seemingly the case. After all, many of these problems have been on-going for almost 6 months.
I know of many members who have given up in disgust, and left the site. I'm still hanging in there ........ but even my patience is running out!
I know what GR can do .................. and am still hoping that it will soon be back to that."
-----------------
now to wait again ........... and again .............. 'cos it is upto the development team!

The problem with all this is that the GR support staff who are responding to reports sent to them are missing a vital point.
The problem IS NOT specific to particular actions so sending them a url which has failed to test achieves absolutely nothing. The chances are that when they test it is works...... hence the replies they are sending back.
The issue is generic to the entire GR database which has grown to a such a size that almost any operation involving the processing of large amounts of data will fail at some time.
Reporting specific instances, either on this board or to GR support is now a WASTE OF TIME.
Phil. Ryan etc and GR Management need to address the wider issue that the site has run out of stream and now needs a radical solution otherwise it will simply get progressively worse.

snap!!
helping others is the major reason why I have so many threads showing in My Threads ............ and wanting to check which thread someone is referring to is one of the main reasons why I want to open My Threads.

I am getting the same problem. Annoying when trying to find my posts cos someone has PM.d me about a reply I gave and i need to refresh myself with the enquiry made
I do lots of look ups and give the benefit of my research knowledge but I cant be expected to know straight away what the reply was to a specific enquiry .so its frustrating not to be able to find a specific thread.
Being a long time answering could come across a rude to someone waiting on a reply .
This problem needs sorting ASAP

One of my sites has an emoticon of the "person" banging its head against a wall in complete and utter frustration
I would LOVE to have that emoticon right now!
I have just opened the 4th reply from GR since I sent the first complaint about opening My Threads on Feb 6.
Each one has been from a different person, and has asked for more and more information .............. which I have supplied.
This morning's reply .....................
Please can you let me know exactly which thread you are having problems opening, I have tested the links that you have previously supplied: http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/ancestors/xx/thread/1228199 and http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/general_chat/thread/1192226, and I have not been able to recreate a problem with these threads they are opening correctly for me and I have tested this using internet explorer 8 and the Google chrome browser.
Regarding your problem with the message centre, please can you send me your registered email address and the details of the messages that you are having problems with along with the operating system and browser you are using to access the site in order that I may investigate this for you.
Thank you in advance for your help.
---------------------
I said 2 days ago that I use Mozilla Firefox ........ I do not have Google Chrome, nor IE8
This is my reply ....... sent, as you may guess, in frustration .....................
I really feel as if I am going round in circles with GR. And this is what happens every time I get into these "conversations" re a problem.
I get a response to an email from a different person every day, always asking for more information ..... until finally someone, you in this case, says that you cannot repeat my problem, and will I provide all the information all over again.
It begins to feel as if GR does not trust what is said by members.
I can assure you that I DO have a problem, and so do a number of other people. In fact, many of us have more than one problem with the site. This is currently the one that is causing me most frustration.
I do not use Google Chrome, and am not currently using IE, so you testing with those systems means nothing .................. as I said in a previous email, I use Mozilla Firefox.
I have given you the links for the two threads that cause particular problem. But the MAJOR problem is in opening the tool, My Threads.
Regarding the Message Centre ........ it is not any specific message that causes problems. It is the fact that I cannot open a 2nd message immediately after having opened one, without having to leave the Centre, and re-enter. This can happen with new messages .............. or when I go back to earlier messages to open and see if I can delete them. Deleting messages was a suggestion from GR some weeks ago as a means of improving the speed of opening the Message Centre.
The most messages that I have been able to open in sequence is 2 ..... and this has gone on for weeks.
Again other members have reported similar problems.
As I said in an earlier email, I use Windows, and Mozilla Firefox.
My registered email is xxxxx ...... I can however only receive emails from GR at that address. I cannot reply nor initiate emails to you from there ...... your browser or server blocks me immediately.
--------------------------
Now to wait until Monday before I get a reply, as of course, it is Friday evening in the UK
sylvia who doesn't have much more hair left to tear out in frustration

Kathleen, in a recent thread Rollo the Red explained what was wrong with the GR javascript, which causes users with a large number of threads to have problems with My Threads. I can't find the thread now but he didn't sound too hopeful of a proper resolution of the situation as it would mean another big change.

Returning from a few days away, I logged in, and tried my threads:
"Error Sorry. An error has occurred The page you were trying to load has experienced an error. This error has been logged and will be investigated.
If you hit the back button on your browser, it will return you to the page you were on, and you may like to try the action again. If you repeatedly experience the same error, please contact Support via the Contact Us menu under Help.
If you were following a link from your favourites, an email or from another site, the link may have changed. We recommend returning to the home page of the Genes Reunited site, and following the existing menu options to navigate to the same content.
To return to the home page, click on the Genes Reunited logo."
Has the error been logged? and will it be investigated?
I cannot be bothered to "hit the back button", nor shall I "contact Support via the Contact Us menu under Help.", nor any of the other suggestions.
The error message has been ongoing for far too long, for a few or for many people, only genes reunited staff would know that. It should not happen at all.

It's taken me three attemps to get "my threads". Pressing "ctrl" and F5 simultaneously brought up a second Error page and I got in on the third attempt.
Genes Support thinks it's my version of Chrome which is not up to date but my son assures me that it is. He thinks it's a coding error on their part.
