GR ~ PLEASE don't put your announcements on ALL the boards.

You will be taking up most of the first page......at least!

If members are interested in Announcements, we will look at the Announcements Board!

AND

Announcements should be on the GR site FIRST, not on Facebook.

Most of us come HERE first, not Facebook.

I had noticed last night that it had disappeared and wondered where it had gone so it looks like the gremlins are about again .

Competitions and an apology have been seen in facebook but not in GR.

(I would have added to the previous thread requesting this, but couldn't find it. If I find it, I shall add to that and shall delete this.)

Hello Joy,

we have been posting on both Genes and on Facebook. I updated the Announcements page last night at about 10.30 pm and then I have added a further update this morning.

The competitions have also been added to Genes. You can see the details on the Announcements board and on the General Chat board.

It would be a great help to members if there was some indication that you have posted on the Announcements board.

If say the word "New" popped up against the board name so all members could see it instead of hearing about a new post on the board when other members post on the genealogy chat board or the suggestion board.

I did put them on Facebook last week. I notice that the ads have disappeared from the boards.

I can't email you and your system isn't compatible with my ISP. That's why in desperation I put it on Facebook.

Hi Gai, Regarding the adverts, our advertising agency do try to tailor adverts to the user, but I would not expect you to be seeing the adverts you mention. I will chat with Estelle on Monday. Thanks for letting us know.

I don't get the yellow/red icon saying new when GR post on the announcement board.

Phil, that sounds like a great idea as I know myself I normally only look at 3 boards being the Genealogy Chat, Find Ancestors and Suggestion boards.

Phil, please tell Estelle to hurry up and get rid of the Ancestry.com.au ads off the site as I'm getting tired and frustrated at constantly see them.

Personally, I would like to see "active" announcements appearing as stickied threads at top of all boards, and also shown on home page. This is currently being reviewed. We want to make sure as many members as possible are aware of any announcements we need to make.

I know when I come onto this site if there are any new announcement there is a yellow/red icon saying 'new' next to it and it goes away after I have read the announcement.

Even if you put "new" next to the announcement button on the left would indicate something as been added but delete the new 24 hours later

I would like GR Admin to add some icon or something along those lines on the boards summary on the left hand side of the screen when they post a new topic on the Announcements board.

Unless something is posted on the Genealogy chat board, I don't go looking at the announcement board and I'm sure I am not the only one.
