Research Exchange Board

That's what the re-named boards Find Ancestros and Genealogy Chat have been used for in the past

People would post asking for help in research in archives in a certain area, and offering help

I think in fact it was always more of a "pay it on" sort of system ................ you help me, I'll help someone else, they's help someone else

The system seemed to work very well on an ad hoc basis.

May I suggest a sort of "research exchange" board, whereby people in different parts of the country (or world) can find a partner and each do a little research for the other.

For example, I live in East Yorkshire but have no ancestors from here. If someone in one of the places I'm interested in (Suffolk, Kent, Northants, Oxon, Liverpool for starters) has links with this area, I would happily spend an hour or two in the archives here if they would do the same for me. Clearly some private arrangement would have to be made for photocoying but it could be a cost-effective way of researching in these straightened times.

:-D Regards to all
