TW as ever, the voice of reason. I too am fortunate in that, before I went on holiday and since I came back have had very few problems. I am on Firefox and the ZA log in. I do have the frustration of having to log in more frequently but that is not really, really a problem is it? A problem is when we can't get in at all. And, yes, I know some people have that problem. But, they are trying hard, and they are communicating with us through Phil, what more can they do?

Does anyone know if there are problems on freeBMD.org.uk site as well? I seem to be getting a lot of very strange responses on there .

not sure if its michael buble (that I'm listening to on the radio) or reading this thread, but i almost have a tear in my eye ( seriously). thank you for the appreciation despite our failings these last few weeks. We are VERY frustrated, but we have been deploying a few fixes and performance changes this last week and will keep them coming this week. i hope to post a blog this week to clarify some of these changes. thanks again for your patience. I agree too with Susan wiv numbers, particularly as thread after thread after thread moaning about the same thing appears, instead of everyone adding to an existing thread.

I have to say, I've had very few problems with the site in the last week. A couple of times I've been flung to a different place, or got the error message, and been logged out once...but as with any other site, which also has bugs and problems, you just give it a few minutes and try again. Simples. But I do know some people have had more problems than others, and it all depends on which particular server you are logged into at the time.

This site in recent years has been so outdated it's unbelievable and it's great to see that GR are making the effort to bring it into the 21st century, but every update or every piece of new equipment on any site you care to name, will have issues and bugs to iron out. Patience is the key here, and I'm sure that if things get too bad, remimbursements or extensions of membership would be considered purely from a customer service point of view.

Talking of which, their (GR) attitude toward it's paying members has vastly improved since the takeover, and it's great to see they are actually listening to their customers at long last, rather than sending bog-standard emails to every complaint and seeming to pretend it wasn't happening at all.

Of course, we could go back to the bad old days. I remember a time when a flash advert carried a worm which infected an awful lot of us. Complaints went in, threads by the dozen went up, bog-standard emails were sent back stating it was our browser not them etc etc, and it was a few days before finally GR conceded it was down to a particular flash ad which they removed. Problem solved.

Now we even have Phil chatting to us, stickies put up from time to time and GR staff being seen to participate to an extent.

I'd rather have this situation than the old one believe me.

I have suggested that genes reunited put a sticky on all boards explaining that the technical team is aware of the current issues and is working on solutions for them.
I think that if this was done, at least the people that read the boards could then see an assurance that their concerns are being addressed.

I agree with Susan with numbers. :-D

Its one thing to complain about the faults, which is a paying members right to. But another to harp on and on about them, not giving GR a chance to rectify things.. :-(

I'm sure GR are aware what they should have done, But whats done is done.
Lets let them get on with sorting out what issues have arisen, without the constant nagging for fast results . :-P

Another sensible thing would have been to change the servers without doing a major software change at the same time.

I really don´t think it´s a matter of moaning.
If Genes had done the sensible thing & advised their members in advance that they were changing servers & that problems would probably arise, there would have been no"moaning".
Perhaps they should have given advanced warning & closed the site completely for 24 hours & extended everyones membership by a day instead of leaving people to wonder what the h**l is going on.
This site has been a mess for over a week now & every day brings a new problem.
I´m sure that the Genes team are every bit as frustrated as the members, but at least they wouldn´t have been inundated with e mails asking for information.

I agree Sue 10146857 perhaps now is the time to be constructive about what changes we would like GR to make to improve the site.

Susan10146857 Report 19 Jun 2011 00:52

We all know that GR have new servers. We all know that they are having problems. How do we know? They have told us.....fer goodness sake.....All the moaning in the world is not going to help get the site working any better than it is at the moment.

yes we pay our subs etc etc etc.......But for goodness sake.......give them the benefit of the doubt for a while.......who knows....they may be generous and offer us a sweetner....but having goes each and every minute is of no help whatsoever.......Unless one just loves moaning that is.......All points have already been registered.....No point in moaning about the same things..........For a while anyway :-)
