CMT: GR Interaction on Board CLOSED

What is the point of this board if GR staff are not going to interact with members and we still have to go to facebook, twitter or friends reunited to get a response to issues with your own site.

It's madness.

Also your important note says "Please do not post anything here which may offend, infringe anyone's rights, or breach the law" Unless the boards are moderated how would you know without the help of paying members?

The courtesy of answering some of the threads on this board would not go amiss

Tooty

GR has replied ONCE on this so-called Suggestions board

way back on the very first day

since then, it seems that they have been very carefully ignoring it

just as they have always ignored complaints until the noise becomes unbearable.

It's turning into the groaning board, where we all have a winge and nothing changes, sound familiar ?

Since anything that happens to get a reply is on FB, perhaps we should make a bigger noise there ?

............. and get slammed on there even more by a certain few GR members and ex-members for being "board police"??

or for always complaining when we know we should do what GR sys ..... contact Support?

Just look at Gwawr's threads (one is very near the top of the page at the moment).

Yes I read it

I will only take the police job if there's shiny hand-cuffs and a walky-talky radio, thrown in ,!

People ignore me in real life , I;m the crazy lady on the mobility scooter, so who would notice me here ! LOL

Here's an example of "interaction".

I sent an email to [email protected] about a series of posts on the Living Relatives board. I had reported the person's first post (containing details about her parentage and the names of family members of both people involved) that would have shocked the families of the individuals in question had they seen the post. That one was deleted. Five more were posted. Each contained fewer details, but as a group the picture was clear. I could see no point in reporting them one by one; the pattern of constant posting of the same inappropriate thing was the problem.

The staff member who replied told me I had to report the individual posts, and that the links I had given to the five posts were inactive. They were not. They were functioning links and the posts were still on the board.

The eventual reply I got directed me to a thread on Chat (no particular post) advising me that my "tone" was unacceptable and my account would be de-registered if I persisted. My "tone" consisted of a straightforward statement to the poster that she had broken the no-cduplication rule and directions to the rules. It was followed by unpleasant posts from that poster, who had a two-digit post count and whom I had never heard of before, including one stating what she had been "led to believe" about me.

As far as I could tell, no post by me had been reported or deleted from that thread.

And yet this staff member for some reason found it appropriate to ignore the problem on the Living Relatives board I was attempting to draw to her attention and raise this completely unrelated and obviously unfounded complaint with me.

I responded much as I have here, pointing out that the thread itself was evidence of the gangs who make it their business to send poison-pen PMs at this site. I had no further reply.

And now we may find out whether any staff ever do read this board. If they do, I assume this post will be deleted and I will probably not be here to talk about it.

XP, sez I.

They are also inconsistent with their deletions on the living board.

Following a reinstatement of a post that Janey reported I reported it. It was the one she told us about on another thread, I got an email saying that they agreed with me and deleted it.

So how come when I reported it as contravening the Data Protection Act it was removed and when Janey reported it before me also for contravening the Data Protection Act they disagreed and reinstated it? It doesn't make sense to me.

I have a theory that Facebook and Twitter are paying Brightsolid for advertising because why else would you promote other sites above your own. In an email I received recently it said follow the GR team on Facebook, Twitter and Friends Reunited. If I owned a site in the list, like Brightsolid does, it would be in pole position not at the bottom.

Sylvia then I suggest that they go on a customer service course dealing with complaint handling. Then perhaps they would realize that it is better to interact and address the concerns of it's members.

Nobody expects overnight solutions, except maybe on the Find Living Relatives board, which I think needs immediate action, but they should give an indication that the matter is being looked into

Ah, but don't say to staff that their decisions are inconsistent and arbitrary.

And here's an update. Late last night, my time, I reported the latest in the series of posts by the poster I referred to in my first post in this thread (the one who had detailed her parents' relationship and given one parents' childrens' names).

This morning I have an email saying the post has been removed.

This time, I PMed the poster explaining why I had reported and would keep reporting her posts, and suggesting a way to conduct her search without violating these people's privacy so grossly.

Not . My . Job.

I think we now understand the importance of this, and are now trying to be fully involved on this board. And I think it is helping in far more ways than expected. And, personally speaking, I am thoroughly enjoying the participation. I will close off this thread in a couple of days.

What would happen if there was no public interaction by you, Phil? Would things revert to the previous situation?
