Thanks to Genes Reunited I have found cousin John who has provided extracts from the Martin family bible started 1870 which includes details of my grandfather born in 1878.

Cousins Ian and Susan have also been contacted for the first time leading to an exhange of family information and photographs.

Researching:
Paternal surname is MARTIN. Associated names include, Barnett, Biggs, Bond, Candy, Flattery, SharkeySherkey/Shirkey. Earliest known MARTIN came from Magdeburg, Prussia (now Germany) and settled in Frome, Somerset, England in 1815. Known, maternal surnames are CRISP (mother), GORDON (grandmother), FRYAR (great grandmother) and NORMAN (great great grandmother).
