Hudson family long lost relatives found

I have been using genes for about 2 years and recently found my Uncle Philip Hudson who last saw me when I was a new-born baby 41 years ago. I knew he had children of his own (my 1st cousins), but was unaware of how many, their names, their ages etc. Thanks to genes we now correspond by e-mail; we have not met up yet as we live at opposite ends of the country.

Another startling revelation was to find that my gggg grandfather on my mothers side, Joseph Alexander 1806 and his brother Matthias 1810 were involved in the Swing Riots of 1830 (along with several of their 2nd cousins) and transported to Tasmania. Their offspring still live in Tasmania and are related to me as third cousins that I never knew I had. In total I have located approximately 70 living relations some as distantly related to me as 11th cousins. Two years ago I would have thought that impossible.

This really is a wonderful site that I would recommend to anyone, not only to find their forbears, but also to learn a little more about their roles in historical events. I last came across the Swing Riots when I did history at school, couldn’t really remember what they were all about, but there is plenty of information available on the internet; my forebears actually being involved in this wow!
A very grateful user of genes
