I seemed to have no information about my maternal grandfather's family though I'd spent much of my childhood with him. In June I put a description on the "Trying to find" board - and within 45 minutes had 4 replies, within 24 hours 11 replies. None of these were from relatives, just people kind enough and able to search the census records for me. With the facts they gave me I was able to fill in some gaps which in turn led to more contacts, and I've now got his ancestors back to about 1765. I am so grateful for the help - and have today put out a "trying to find" appeal for my maternal grandmother's family and hope for the same luck! |
