When I started my research I knew nothing of my grandfather's parents as they died when he was a very young child. After 2 years of searching I found my great-grandfather's army service record at Kew, and by using Scotlandspeople I found his family. His mother had married when he was about 8 (he was illegitimate), and she'd gone on to have several children. I input my data on to genes and within minutes I had found a contact. The next day I got a positive reply, and I now even have a photo of one of the half brothers of my great grandfather. So within 2 weeks of finding his birth I had new living family! Brilliant! Julie |
