As well as all the help I've had from the generous members of this site in tracing my ancesters' details, I've also been influenced in what I've read on the tips threads, about making contact with living relatives. I'd found a name and address in an old address book of my mother's. Despite no contact with this person for about 20 years, I took a chance and wrote a brief letter, explaining who I was, what our connection is, and explaining about my 'family tree hunt'. I had a phone call 2 days later! She was thrilled (as I was), and has lots of info, photos etc, and lots of memories of rellies I've never met, for instance my g'g'mother, who died 2 years after I was born, who was very dear to my father. So I'm going down to visit her soon! Thanks to all the info, advice, viewpoints and encouragement from the people on this site! Bx |
