Success Stories

When I joined this site just after it came online I thought I had no family other than myself and my immediate family. I started my life having a Half Sister & Brother but grew up as an only child in a one-parent family from an early age. Since joining I have found at least 500 living relatives cousins ranging from 1st cousins once removed too 5th or 6th cousins. This has been really great and soon I will be meeting some of them which I am really looking forward too but something happened just three or four weeks ago that is really very special. About a month ago I received an email from one of the members of Genesreunited which left me speachless. This lady stated that she had taken her own tree a long way back and her friends and neighbours started asking her about doing a family tree so she started to help them. One day a friend of her's asked her if she would see if she had any family as she had been placed in a Children's Home as a baby. Now that she had her birth certificate she knew her Parents names having been told her mother had died young she wanted to see if there was anyone on her Father's side. Her friend started looking and found me, after considering for a long time she emailed me stating that if I didn't want to know she would keep my confidence and not tell her friend. Well I answered her straight away of course I wanted to know I had found a Half Sister. My Sister and I have since spoken on the phone a few times and exchanged photo's of our families. At the moment we are taking it slowly we have 60 odd years to catch up on. Thank you Genesreunited for without you my Sister and I would never had been united.
