I joined Genes Reunited 2 years ago, and within hours had found a living relative I knew nothing about, and several generations on my maternal side. However when trying to find any relatives of my father, I came up against a brick wall. I did not know his real surname, or where he was born. After visiting the records office in Scotland last year, I manged to track down my fathers birth cerificate, but unfortunately the details on it had been transcribed wrongly, and I could not find his mother or any other relatives. Then thanks to another GR member, I was sent the correct details about her. From there onwards, I have discovered a whole side of my tree that I didn't know existed. I am still looking for some more of his relatives, but cannot believe that I have been able to reach back so far in time. Many thanks to all of you who have helped me travel this difficult road.
