I started using Genes Reunited about two years ago having already found details of my ancestors back to about 1724. However I knew very little of my immediate family starting wth my grandparents and their family. When I entered grandfather's name in a search column I was surprised to find that there others also looking for him. I contacted one in particular living in Europe and eventually discovered that we were second cousins. Further communications brought to light that I had three uncles and two aunts that I knew nothing about!. I have since established what happened to the three uncles and one aunt and am still looking for the remaining aunt, I have been unable to find out if the one uncle had family and where he may have lived prior to enlisting into the army in the first world war. He was killed 1915 n France.. On a happier note my second cousin came over to U.K. last year and I was able to meet all his family in Corwall,about twenty members I think who made me very welcome |
