I have been trying to slowly build my family tree for some time now using two well known sites with reasonable success. At the suggestion of my daughter I joined GR and downloaded a GEDCOM. Disaster, or so I thought, I didn't realise that it took a few days for their computer to sort it all out. Results were amazing. It took me three solid days to sift through the hotmatches. This lead to three genuine hits and thanks to those my tree grew from 79 to over three hundred overnight. I still use one of the other sites for research but reguarly download my findings onto GR. I now have a branch that I didn't have a clue about and found a third cousin I knew nothing about. Trouble is my wife now asks if she can make an appointment to speak to me, so I guess I'll have to start on her side of the family now. Thanks GR |
