I only ever knew my grandmother on my father's side and even then I was only 10 when she died. I always thought her surname was the same as mine. Her generation and that of my parents are no longer with us and when I began to reseacrh my roots I had very little to go on. By pestering older relatives to think 'a bit harder' and with help from people using Genes Reunited, I have traced my mother's side backto 1747 and my father's side to 1675. I am also back in touch with cousins I have not seen for many years and have linked up with distant cousins in America. |
