I would like to thank Genes Reunited for their help. INCREDIBLE I now have over 200 names and for the past 18 months I am in regular contact with relations now in Australia and here. I have been able to putthe Australians in contact with relations from the same tree living in the USA I always knew I had relations in Austalia, as I could just remember towards the end of the war, an Australian soldier coming to our home (my mothers cousin). He had been a prisoner of war, and had been sent to England to recuperate. It was his father that had emigrated to Australia in 1912! It is his grand-daughter that joined Genes Reunited as she was doing the research for her father. I was doing research and they too were doing research and it was due to Genes Reunited that we were able to make the contact. I still had information belonging to my grandmother which made the connection positive. At the same time a younger relative here in England - who I did not know at the time, was also doing research into this side of the family. It turned out that she lived in a tiny farming village several miles away from the town our relatives have lived. ( I still holiday on the farm 100 miles away from my home and could see her home from the farm where I stay) She did not know much about this side of our family nor anything about the Australian connection - though she did have a photograph of an Australian soldier - which had gone missing from my collection! Incredible. Thank you, and I wish you everyone all the success that I have had. It has been a wonderful trip down memory lane. |
