I would like to thank Genesreunited for the help and contacts in my endeavour to build my family tree. It has really blossomed; there are literally dozens! It makes fascinating reading and I would like to say a BIG 'Thank You' for all the replies I have received. I would never have believed it possible in such a short space of time. If I appear somewhat tardy in responding, I apologise, and will do so as soon as possible. Many thanks to the Tubby, Elvin, Coggle and other members of the extended family. May I add just a word of warning. My one remaining aunt assured me that my great-grandmother was born in Ireland and the family came across during one of the potato famines. When I obtained a copy of her birth certificate it was nothing of the sort. In fact I am still trying to find the Irish connection as her parents born in East Anglia. My aunt doesn't believe me even though I have the proof! This is because her eldest sister who spent time told he so. Sometimes family gossip is purely that - gossip. Also if the family was large there could be up to 20 years between brothers or sisters as in the generations in my tree, so make allowances for that too. Anyway, thanks a heap for all your help. |
