Hi My mother wanted to trace any family of her aunt who temporarily adopted her when she was six years old. After the best part of 50 years, since they last had contact, mum had all but given up any hope. This side of the family helped my grandfather and grandmother, during difficult times, and my mum felt a real debt of gratitude. She felt sad that she never had a chance to express this to them. Anyway it turned out that, after being encouraged to research my grandmothers family, by mum, I was given a lead on the family name section in Genes-reunited. This enabled me to add to the history for that side of the family (turns out its a very well researched family name). As soon as I did that a few hot matches came in. I contacted one who turned out to be the son of my mother's uncle on my grandmothers side. It then turned out that not only was the uncle still alive but so was the aunt! My mother was able to visit her aunt and uncle and it was a very special time for all concerned. They were able to share memories and catch up. Thanks to all who made this possible. John |
