I have just renewed my GR membership for another year and these are the reasons why: Through the search facility I've made contact with relatives who, although distant, have been able to give me names, dates and information about the lives of my great great grandparents and their family. I have received photographs and other documents. This information, particularly about the family's association with a church, enabled me to find a mention of the family in a book which is held in Brigham Young University in the USA. That information in turn meant that I could verify certain facts about my family. The tips board is superb. Everyone is so helpful and there's always someone who can answer your questions or at least point you in the right direction. There are great threads there on a whole host of topics. Just today someone posted a thread about online burial records and within about ten minutes I had found another greatgrandfather! And then for some fun/companionship/support/laughter/advice etc etc there's the General board. I have to confess that I've given up housework because the boards are so entertaining and the people so lovely. I just spray some furniture polish into the air before my hubby gets home!! To anyone thinking of joining - GO FOR IT!! |
