Joy Owen's success story

Joy Report 18 Aug 2006 11:27

I joined Genes Reunited to record my father's family tree but I added one or two relatives from my mother's side (Banks) . Early this year I was contacted through the site by someone in Australia who felt we had a Banks relative in common. In order to send Louise some photos of the area where the family originated I visited Carsington in Derbyshire. Since then I have visited several times and I have become fascinated with the lives of lead miners in the nineteenth century! I have also been in touch with other relatives in Australia and New Zealand whom I didn't know of before and together we are piecing together the past. Thanks go to Genes Reunited for supporting my super new hobby. www.joyowen.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk
