After the death of my elderly mother earlier this year (I’m in my 60’s) I realised that a lot of our family history, which was only oral, would be lost with me. Only a few weeks ago I decided to make sure that didn’t happen. I came here, since then I have traced and documented my family back much further than the oral history I knew (and found a few surprises). I suspect the long slog is now ahead of me, but am certainly not disheartened after the response I have found here. I’ve received such a lot of help here, found a branch of the family I had no knowledge of (thanks to other members). I found a great Uncle I adored as a child didn’t even have the name we all knew him by – again thanks to other members. I congratulate Genes Reunited on providing such a wonderful site – and offer grateful thanks to those who have helped. |
