For anyone out there who's adopted any trying to trace records. If you can establish the Local Authority that may have your adoption records well worth a try. Be prepared tho they may want you to have counselling if there's a real match and the file can make upsetting reading. My friend shared his with me and it brought many tears to my eyes. Very hard choices had to be made in those days but thankfully we've moved on a bit from the umarried mother syndrome being socially unacceptable. Through a lot of perseverance he has now found out who his natural mum and dad were and a living half brother and sister who he is now in regular touch with, after being an only child for most of his life. Sometimes you may have to be firm to get what you want out of officialdom but as this case proves it can be done!
