Joining Genes Reunited has been a remarkable experience. It could be said I am an 'old hand' both with hobby and age. Commencing in 1988 following redundancy at work took up Family History using the various archival depositories nationwide. Nothing has been more succesful than using the facilities offered under the banner of Genes Reunited. Since joining about two years ago have obtained photograph of ancestor which was a pure bonus. Original awareness of the ancestor occured prior to joining G.R. purely as a name on a census, who was eight years old on the census. A contact via G.R. provided the photograph of that 8 year old as a mother with her own daughter. The resemblance to my late brother was a little daunting to say the least. Other success stories include finding what happened to other ancestors. Those details obtained from contact with other G.R. members where known details matched up. Success has not just been on British soil having had contact with overseas members. From those sources I have another photograph of a home built by a great uncle. The success is not only with passed relatives having found living relatives which gives the hobby a real boost plus that 'serendipity' associated with the hobby. Cyril
