Success Stories

Having been a member of Genes Reunited for a year I now have a long list of distant relatives for each of my main family names, have linked together all the Formoys in the census records (previously I knew nothing about my father's family at all); I know many of the trades and professions my ancestors had back to the 1700s on all sides and have put my elderly mother in touch with a neighbour who shares plenty of the same talents and interests and has the same gtx6 grandparents as me; we have swapped photos of relatives. I also contacted an old lady in Australia who had no information on her UK roots as her mother's parents died when she was only 3. I managed to put her in touch with the same neighbour of my mother's and she was delighted to receive photos of her close relatives. Hopefully we will all meet up when she comes to the UK. Recently I found out that my husband's family were from Germany and have just this week got in touch with another lady who had no known living relatives; I have sent her family photos and we are going to meet up. In the summer I found another close relative of my husband's and she lives very near. We have exchanged photos and I managed to send a card to her elderly mother to say we were related just days before she died. She was glad to know of the existence of relatives just a couple of miles away. Now her daughters and my family want to meet up.
