Having joined Genes Reunited earlier this month, I immediately received messages from distant relatives. One area of the family tree, which I had neglected, was the POTTINGER branch. This week, following a day spent searching 1881/1901 Census records, I overlaid the results on top of my limited knowledge of this branch of the family. Part-way through the input to Genes Reunited , I checked and found that some of my data matched other trees, so sent off messages. I thought that I had got back as far as Robert Pottinger b. c1812; by the end of the same day, I not only had confirmation of this, but eight pages of notes taken from Robert's Family Bible. All amazing stuff; thanks Jennifer Macey. I then received a message from another distant Pottinger relative, in more ways than one; Marilyn Ellis in New Zealand. As ever, the more you know, the easier it is to find additional information, but membership of Genes Reunited has already been money well spent!
