Chrissie here, Gerri beat me to it!! She was instrumental in finding my mums only living relative of her age or older. As Gerri said, I only joined 2 days before the Sunday when I heard from Gerri...its only Monday now and I am still on a high. Thanks to Genes Reunited and Gerri, I spoke to my aunt ( also Gerri's aunt! so we have to be cousins so many removed or whatever) and did not stop for about 3/4 hour. Everything fitted in....a very important part of my life was back in place. No doubt of it, will be off to Dublin ...that is where Aunt Kay's dad and his brother, my grandad were born...at some stage once I get my grandad's military history sorted. Thanks a million Genes Reunited...but especially Gerri, who if she had not picked up on my message.... 2 days later....and having posted the above success, I can now tell of more good news. Posted a search for my grandad...John Bush and listed his marriage to Caroline Lount and their 4 sons..Kenneth Harold (my dad) Charles (died WW2 Burma) and John. A wonderful gentleman ( not sure he would agree to his name being published) who emailes me and asked if I knew my Uncle Charles was buried at Digboi War cemetery in India!! How did he know? He did his own search with obvious skill. He took months and months of hard slog from me because by the end on the evening yesterday, he had also located where and when both sets of granparents were married...and where my mum and dad were married. He then steered me to the GRO (Gen. Register Office) where I ordered the 3 marriage certificates which will enable me to hopefully locate the correct John Bush...and will help locate information of my maternal grandfather too. How about that. And that is all within 4 days of joing as full member of Genes Reunited. I had started this journey at least 2 months ago by trawling through census records anmd getting a bit on my grandmothers and that was it. So to Gerri again, and Mr Wonderful Researcher ( you know who you are) A BIG THANKYOU. I am nearly there...that contentment of knowing my roots to the full, as far back as I wish to go. Maybe I may go on a bit further, but will take my time and feel less urgency! Will be (hopefully) paying a visit to Digboi on behalf of myself and my family who never had the chance before. Chrissie
