Hello All ! Well to be honest this is a long shot but i am going to give it a shot. At the end last year an gentleman gave me some old books which contained the some old photos. I was living in Dykes terrace Carlisle at the time and he was clearing a house opposite to ours. He said that the books belonged to an Elderly lady who lived in this area. I thought it would be nice if the photos could be reunited with their rightful owner. There are a few clues in the photos and postcards such as names and dates. There is one photo of a young boy. On the back reads: Thomas Stewart Smith recited his first piece at brownside on April 6th 1928 on Good friday aged 3 years. Thomas was presented was presented with a piece of silver from his Aunty Cissie. As well at the top of the photo is what we believe to be a place name- Scilly Hole. We believe this to be in the Carlisle / Newcastle area There is also a postcard sent from Old Windmill Armstrong Park Newcastle postmarked 6th July 1938 snet to Mrs F ( j maybe ) smith The Hundy Alston/ Ashton Cumbria sent from Annie who is has obviously been unwell. Another photo shows the opening of the Weslyan Sunday school May 21st 1934 singed A M smith We believe this as well to come from the same area. There are 2 other photos of unknown people. One of a young woman in a hayfield with 2 dog around the 30's/40's and a Victorian / Edwardian potrait of a middle aged lady. If you think you may recognise any of these artifacts please email me firefeathers at hotmail . com |
