My treasured GGrandfather Samuel Newbury an eminent skipper in Hull was finally traced back to Charmouth Dorset in 1849 altho census's said Worcs. & Dorsetshire some illegible.Only yesterday did his birth certificate arrive thanks to you good people on this site. your help with messages on boards is invaluable thanks a bundle.How can I trace his father George born Thorncombe before 1837 records began? And his wife Mary Ann Dyke of Charmouth? could Dyke have been mispelt as Dirk? A marriage took place in Axminster of Newbery and Dirk! |
