I registered with Genes ReUnited when it first started trying to trace my natural father's two daughters from another relationship. I didn't know their names or ages, only that they were a lot younger than me. I'd almost given up hope when a few weeks ago a cousin I never knew about contacted me. She had no contact with the paternal family either. We have stayed in touch and are meeting for the first time on 2nd July. It motivated me into searching again and I am so pleased to tell you all that my youngest sister emailed me today - I'm absolutely over the moon! Both of them are pleased I made contact so I hope to meet them one day soon. I feel like I've won an oscar because my list of people to thank is so long. I've received messages of support, tips and websites to try - every one helped me in one way or another, I can't thank them enough! If you are new to the site my advice is to not give up hope, post messages on every geanology website you can find, try phone books and online telephone lists, they all help. I recommend the following:- 1837 online, 192.com, Missing You, The National Archives, Ancestry.com, BT.com, LookUp.uk.co, Geanology.com AND OF COURSE Genes ReUnited and Friends ReUnited! Good Luck with your own searches. |
