Thanks to Genes Reunited, I have found a second cousin and a third cousin. I did not know they existed, but have been in frequent contact with both ever since, and am planning to meet one of them in the summer. My third cousin has sent me a photograph of our common ancestor, my great, great grandfather, who was born in 1827, and I have been able to see a family resemblance! I don't think it's just a coincidence. My second cousin's grandfather was my grandfather's brother Tom, whom I remember meeting several times when I was a child.
